By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor

Blue Sky Network, a provider of Iridium (News - Alert)-based GPS tracking and communication solutions for land, sea, and aviation assets has announced that MIAT Mongolian Airlines, the national aviation service of Mongolia has chosen it for providing flight tracking, voice communications, and data messaging capabilities onboard its fleet of B-737 aircraft. The equipment offered by the Blue Sky Network will help the airline in accurately following and communicating with its planes at anytime, anywhere on the globe, which will further significantly increase the safety and security of both passengers and flight operators.

The company offers D1000A transceivers and ACH1000 voice and two-way messaging devices which will help the ground personnel of MIAT in maintaining constant touch with pilots regardless of an aircraft’s location. These solutions leverage the potential of the global Iridium satellite network, and have been designed with an aim to maintain communication throughout remote areas with little or no radio coverage. Apart from offering position reporting and satellite phone capabilities, the solutions also include “Quick Position” mayday alert buttons, which help in the event of an emergency during flight.

According to Yo Enkhtur, Technical Director of MIAT Mongolian Airline, there is no greater concern than keeping air passengers secure, and Blue Sky Network enables MIAT to communicate with its pilots at any time, send messages back and forth, and easily see where its planes are in real-time, key components of an airline’s safety program. Enkhtur continued that in addition to its advanced technology, the price point and customer service provided by Blue Sky made selecting it an easy choice for MIAT.

Blue Sky Network also maintains a SkyRouter web portal works that works in coordination with the D1000A to transmit satellite messages to and from aircraft en route or flight managers on the ground in the form of GPS position reports on take-offs and landings, two-way text messages, or telemetric data reports. The portal features an in-built smooth global mapping solution that is accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, and offers integration to Google (News - Alert) Earth’s three-dimensional map for past and live aircraft trip tracking.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Blue Sky Network, Carlton van Putten said that reliable fleet monitoring and communications solutions are essential tools for aviation fleets, and Blue Sky Network’s GPS-tracking and communications technology allows MIAT Mongolian Airline to rest assured knowing their pilots are constantly in contact with flight operations. Blue Sky Network is committed to keeping these and all aircraft safe, anywhere on the globe, Putten added.

In January 2010, Blue Sky Network announced that Pluspetrol, a well known oil and gas producer in Peru, picked its GPS-based aviation tracking devices to follow and stay in contact with its contracted helicopter fleets.
