ViaSat Yonder Mobile Broadband Service Coverage Becomes Global

ViaSat (News - Alert) partnered KVH Industries Inc. in 2007 to build the Yonder mobile broadband network and has recently increased its coverage area to North Australia, Guam and the Indian Ocean and now covers the entire world.

The download speed of the service goes up to 10 Mbps while the upload speed can be as much as 512 kbps.

 

With its ability to provide connectivity for broadband data, business jet customers can experience an “office in the sky” as a virtual private network can be configured.

 

ArcLight technology patented by ViaSat makes use of very small and light weight antennas to provide improved performance in satellite communications on the move.

 

Ten satellite transponders are being controlled with the use of mobile Ku-band network to provide its global service.

 

In addition, there are eight secure terrestrial gateways located around the globe which are upgraded to the latest network technology to achieve improved performance and seamless switching between satellites.
