Brocade offers all the pieces to deploy a wireless enterprise with the industry's broadest wired and wireless portfolio, and a long history of delivering business-critical IP networking connectivity, the company states. Key WLAN offerings from Brocade include Brocade Mobility RFS6000 Controller, Brocade Mobility RFS7000 Controller, Brocade Mobility 300 Access Point (News - Alert), Brocade Mobility 5181 Access Point, Brocade Mobility 7131 Access Point.

Apart from providing increased staff productivity, the Brocade WLAN provides greater mobility across Neos’ facility. For example, field engineers can access fleet information and aircraft blueprints directly from the tarmac, using PDAs, instead of coming back to their office. It also enhances student learning experience by providing them the flexibility to work everywhere in the training facility.

“We selected the Brocade solution as we already have Brocade’s Fabric Switches connected to our IBM (News - Alert) blade center and storage disks, and in four years we never had a fault on the entire infrastructure. This means a great deal to us in terms of business continuity,” said Eugenio Brusa, IT Manager at Neos Airlines. “We decided to implement a WLAN in order to streamline our operations”

Neos planned to implement a WLAN in its headquarter in 2009 to provide resilience for the wired network. Project management, installation and deployment was conducted in cooperation between Neos’ IT department and VOXplus, Brocade’s partner in Milan. Neos Airline began its operations in March, 2002, with the first flight from Milan Malpensa to Cap Skirring and Dakar Senegal, Africa.

Recently, the company unveiled Brocade One, the unifying network architecture and strategy. Apart from protecting existing technology investments, this new strategy also simplifies management, the company states in a release. The company will offer a comprehensive suite of solutions in support of converged fabrics and Ethernet networking, which will execute on the Brocade One architecture. This will include new product offerings, including a converged fabric switch.
