Ottawa, Canada-based International Datacasting (News - Alert), or “IDC,” a provider of advanced systems for broadband multimedia content distribution, has announced a line-up of new and expanded products for network operators.

Ron Clifton (News - Alert), president and CEO at IDC, said that the network operators of today are looking for ways to do more with fewer resources. “Our products can help them work smarter,” Clifton said.

With the recent acquisition of the Tiernan product lines and the new IDC (News - Alert) products being introduced, the company is rounding out both the products and the company’s ability to provide smart system to an expanding range of customers, Clifton said.

The product line was displayed at SATCON. The expanded product line includes Tiernan high definition and standard definition MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC video encoders and decoders for television contribution and distribution applications.

The company also introduced SFX ProIPTV for the North American market. Company officials said that it’s a blade-server ideal for IPTV (News - Alert) and other heavy traffic applications.

A flexible and scalable solution, ProIPTV houses up to 14 dual carrier hot-swappable receiver blades in a 6RU chassis. Officials said that it supports M:N redundancy and a choice of industry-standard decryption/CAS options.

IDC has a broad portfolio of advanced technology products marketed under the names SuperFlex, Datacast XD, Tiernan and PROFline for implementing a wide range of satellite and other broadband content contribution and distribution networks.

The company’s products are in demand for radio and television broadcast networks, distance learning, digital satellite news gathering and sport contribution, digital signage, digital cinema, IPTV distribution and other content distribution applications.

Earlier in September, the company received orders valued at over $700,000 for its newly acquired Tiernan video and audio lines of products. The orders, for customers in Vietnam, Africa, and India include Tiernan’s MPEG-2/MPEG-4 HD and SD encoders with paired decoders and digital audio products.

In August, IDC acquired select product lines and related technology from Comtech Tiernan Video.
