Newtec Releases Schedule of Courses for Spring

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Starting next month, Newtec (News - Alert) is offering a full slate of events -- “Shaping The Future of Satellite Communications” -- to train you how to be a better customer.
Story continues below ↓

Things kick off February 9, with the course “Technology: Earth Station Design.” Running more than two days, for about $1,500 per person and being taught in English in Sint Niklaas, Belgium, the course is designed to provide a complete overview of Earth Station Design using Newtec’s equipment.

It’ll cover satellites’ orbits and properties, earth-station architecture, components and properties, earth station design considerations, link budget calculations, what’s called “advanced topics” and practical implementation and operation of earth stations.

Things roll along in that vein until the end of June, with such courses along the way as “Product: IP Equipment Hands-on Training,” “Product: Newtec’s IP Software Overview” and “Tech And Product: Installation of Newtec Equipment.”

The March 3 event, “Product: Newtec’s IP Software Overview,” is a one-day course in Berlin for operators, installers, system design engineers and NOC (News - Alert) engineers. It’s described as “an overview of the IP Software Tellitec product suite and its applications. It is not intended to provide a detailed description of all possible configurations of the software but provide a first overview only.”

There’s only one event offered in April, a reprise of the earth station design course offered February 9. As with that one, the April 22 course is held in Sint Niklaas, Belgium.

The one May event is “Technology: DVB-S2 The How, What and Why and Bandwidth Optimization Features.” Held in Sint Niklaas, it’s aimed at sales, trainers, operators, installers, system design engineers and NOC engineers.

It’s described as giving “an overview of the DVB-S2 standard and its applications and an explanation of the DVBS2 calculator tool. The second part of the course provides an explanation of features developed by Newtec for maximising bandwidth optimization. Features include; FlexACM, NoDE and Equalink.”

Things wrap up June 23 with “Tech and Product: Installation of Newtec Equipment (RF)” in Sint Niklaas. As you might guess, it’s aimed at, yes, installers and RF engineers.

Innovative Features Mean Major Savings for Cellular Operators Using Satellite Backhaul
With the rising cost of satellite bandwidth and the need for more of it to support an ever increasing number of voice, data and now video services, operators must seek ways to reduce both their hardware investment costs and operating expenses, especially when fierce competition forces them to provide these new services without raising their rates.
