C-COM Deploys First-Ever Satellite Antenna Systems for Vietnam Public Safety Agency
By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor
Vietnam – a nation that encompasses one of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia-Pacific region – recently celebrated the successful launch of its first satellite, the “Vinasat-1.”
With Vinasat-1’s launch under its belt, Vietnam’s satellite market is poised for growth as companies such as C-COM Satellite Systems – which develops and deploys commercial-grade mobile satellite technology for the delivery of two-way high-speed Internet, VoIP and Video services into vehicles – roll out new applications.

Just a couple of weeks ago, C-COM (News - Alert) hosted a day of presentations in its Ottawa headquarters for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. The occasion marked the official handover of the 30 “iNetVu” area-pointing satellite antenna systems, which have been ordered by MoPS. iNetVu system’s antennas sit atop vans and other vehicles, and power the delivery of high-speed satellite Internet services that can be deployed across transportable platforms.
C-COM’s satellite antenna systems, which will be deployed across Vietnam, are in place to enhance the capability of the MoPS to deal with emergency communications, the company said. To date, iNetVu’s arrival marks the first and largest government procurement from Vietnam for this kind of equipment.
The company’s MoPS contract is just the first of many expected by the company, who, in a recent interview with TMCnet, said it is working with a growing number of Asian countries – including Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Japan.
“[These are] countries where we have now established presence and many are starting to order systems from us from these regions,” C-COM President and CEO Dr. Leslie Klein told TMCnet in a recent interview.
In North America, too, C-COM has seen its technology extended to a growing number of applications and settings. In fact, TMCnet recently reported how satellite technology such as C-COM’s is one example of how news agencies are able to generate headlines and content in a new, faster way. With iNetVu in place, media outlets can report on-the-spot news quickly.
Stay tuned to learn more about how MoPS will use their iNetVu systems in Vietnam.
