RAE Systems Wireless AreaRAE Part of Security Efforts at Largest Sporting Events
SAN JOSE, CA, Mar 09, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
RAE Systems Inc. (NYSE Amex: RAE), a leader in delivering
innovative sensor solutions that provide safety and security from
unseen threats in industrial, energy, environmental and government
markets worldwide, today announced its leading wireless atmospheric
gas and radiation detection systems helped keep thousands of
attendees safe and secure at recent major sporting events, including
the Super Bowl XLIV championship game of the National Football League
(NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA) All Star Game and
the XXI Olympic Winter Games.
RAE Systems' wireless-enabled AreaRAE, multi-gas and radiation,
detection systems that provide real-time remote monitoring and a
photoionization detector (PID) for parts-per-million measurements,
were used at these events as early warning systems for public-safety
threats, such as a dirty bomb or the release of toxic chemicals.
"We are proud of our track record in being selected to provide
monitoring system for key public events," said Bill Jackson, RAE
Systems vice president of marketing. "We have a long history of
delivering time-critical and life-critical information. Our wireless
systems have become the first choice in providing situational
awareness to federal, state and local incident commanders. RAE
Systems AreaRAE wireless monitors have become the deployment standard
for public venue protection."
Remote monitoring provides a key advancement by allowing security and
safety monitors, along with response teams, to monitor the venue from
up to 2 miles (3.2km) away. It uses the Internet to communicate and
transmit information in real time to remote experts as needed.
Wireless systems also offer rapid deployment, and quick and easy
setup.
The AreaRAE wireless multi-gas detection system provides detection
for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and comes with a lower
explosive limit combustible gas sensor, an oxygen sensor and two
electrochemical toxic sensors to measure specific toxic substances,
such as chlorine and hydrogen cyanide. The AreaRAE Gamma wireless
integrated radiation and hazardous-gas detection system includes a
gamma sensor for measurement of gamma radiation in addition to VOC
detection, LEL and O2 sensors, and a selectable electrochemical toxic
sensor.
