Chinese satellites to help spy on bushfires

Nov 03, 2009 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Agreements have been struck between a number of Australian and Chinese research institutes and other entities that will enable the use of satellite surveillance technology. It is hoped the new approach will provide emergency management staff with a better picture of major disasters such as bushfires. The satellites will provide both radar and traditional images, and Chinese advances mean these can be made available almost in real time.
