H1N1 music video available to schools

Nov 19, 2009 (The Times-Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A music video about H1N1 may soon be coming to a school near you.

On Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health released a 2 minute and 50 second video, complete with catchy lyrics in a mix of hip-hop and pop, that focuses on five things children can do to keep from getting and spreading the virus.

"I wash my hands, scrub them all the time, and I scrub everything that's mine, in an effort to kill all these germs around me," one student sings.

The music video, called "These Five Things" was filmed at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Beaver County near Pittsburgh and stars students from the school.

Children between the ages of 6 and 12 are targeted in the video because 70 percent of the documented H1N1 cases have been in people younger than 24, said department spokeswoman Yasmin Coleman.

The video is available for download from the department's Web site, and elementary and middle schools are encouraged to show it in the classroom or during assemblies.

Five steps covered in the video are: 1. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and discard the tissue in the wastebasket. If you don't have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your sleeve, but not into your hands or onto bare skin.

2. Keep your hands away from your face and don't touch your mouth, nose or eyes.

3. Wash your hands with soap often. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer will work as well.

4. Keep frequently used surfaces clean, such as knobs, countertops and desks.

5. Stay home from school if you are sick.

Innovative Features Mean Major Savings for Cellular Operators Using Satellite Backhaul
With the rising cost of satellite bandwidth and the need for more of it to support an ever increasing number of voice, data and now video services, operators must seek ways to reduce both their hardware investment costs and operating expenses, especially when fierce competition forces them to provide these new services without raising their rates.
