"I believe we were successful in getting a jury of amazing creative
talent and innovators that are helping define the future of our
industry," said Montague. "Elect The Jury was meant to drive
conversation about how technology is influencing creativity and
ideas, and I think we've generated a lot of positive and necessary
debate. I hope that debate continues."
Through multiple media channels highlighted by intensive online
discussion, Elect The Jury also served as a platform to address
several important issues facing the ad business. They included the
future and necessity of award shows, the relevancy of big ideas in
the digital age, how the recession is affecting creativity, and the
role of specialists vs. generalists in creative technology.
"Elect The Jury was an important step for the industry to take,"
noted Lebowitz. "The future of our business involves collaboration,
disrupting the traditional way of doing things, and cultivating ideas
from around the world from many different disciplines. I think Elect
The Jury has us pointed in the right direction."
Gina Grillo, Executive Director of the Advertising Club of New York
and producer of The ANDYs, said: "Besides being a showcase for the
best work in the world that engages advertising's finest talent, The
ANDY Awards has always evolved with the leadership and passion of the
creative community. So for 2010, we wanted to do something that's
never been done by any other award show. Thanks to Ty and Michael, we
were able to change the game with Elect The Jury."
The ANDYs is now accepting entries at http://www.andyawards.com and
the final call for work is Jan. 4, 2010.
