CNN Correspondent Beth Karas Guest of Honor on December 7, 2009 at Purple Heart Injury Laboratories First Annual Gala

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)-- Beth Karas, correspondent of "In Session," trial coverage will be the Guest of Honor on Monday, December 7, 2009, when Purple Heart Injury Laboratories (PHIL) hosts its first annual gala benefiting TBI research and treatment.

The event takes place from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the New York Athletic Club, 180 Central Park South, 9th Floor, with a cocktail reception from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and dinner served at 7:30 pm. Ticket information is available at 212-252-2090 or at benefit@purpleheartinjurylab.org.

Dr. Bruce Spiess, a director at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems and one of the foremost medical researchers developing treatments for TBI, will discuss the latest TBI treatments in development. Congressman Glenn Nye of Virginia will give remarks.

Five Course, Gourmet Dinner Infused with Middle Eastern, Ancient Greece & Peruvian-American Courses Chef Agostino von Hassell has created a six-course gourmet menu with assistance from Chef Victor Chavez, Smith & Wollensky; Chef Mike DeFonzo, P.J. Clarke's and Executive Chef John Shirley of the New York Athletic Club. Each dish is named for a soldier fallen in the line of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.
