Bloomington police release surveillance images of suspects using stolen credit cards

Jul 03, 2012 (Herald-Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Bloomington police are seeking the public's help in identifying two men suspected of using stolen credit cards at Walmart.

Police took a report that an iPod, a GPS system, cash, an identification and credit card were taken from inside a Honda Accord in late May. A woman later told police that unauthorized transactions were made on her card.

Detectives obtained video surveillance footage from Walmart of two suspects who may have used the woman's stolen credit card, according to a report from Bloomington detective Rob Shrake.

Surveillance shows the suspects attempted to make several transactions using the woman's stolen credit card, and some of the transactions were denied, Shrake said. The two men managed to purchase more than $600 worth of electronics, including phone cards and prepaid phones.

The suspects may have also used another stolen card at Walmart in another case officers are also investigating.

In this case, a stolen card was used to purchase $800 of merchandise from the store, including an iPad, a $50 gift card and three $45 prepaid phone cards.

The suspects arrived at Walmart in a dark colored, two-door car, police believe to be a Monte Carlo.

Anyone with information should contact Bloomington police Detective Rob Shrake at 349-3352.
