Intergraph Introduces New Application Concepts at the European Space Agency's App Camp
(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 03 August 2012
Release date- 01082012 - HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Intergraph announces its recent participation in the European Space Agency's (ESA) App Camp, which brought together the top geospatial innovators across the European Union (EU) to develop off-the-beaten path ideas for apps using Earth-monitoring data on smartphones.
This exclusive event took place June 18-22 in Frascati, Italy. As one of 21 developers across the EU to participate, Stanislav Sumbera, Ph.D., Technical Architect at Intergraph, collaborated with four other developers to create a unique app concept to support ESA's Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) program. This app concept is called 'ShareAware,' and enables sharing of environmental information, which includes imagery, geolocation data, notes, observations and GMES-data, to better monitor and track real-time environmental issues. Potential users for this app include citizens, environmental activists, journalists and natural scientists.
Sumbera presented the ideas for the creation and sharing of geospatial content, developed the disaster-themed approach for making the app timely for its intended audience and contributed to the development of the geospatial portion of 'ShareAware' for iOS, the mobile operating system for iPhones.
'It was an honor to be chosen to participate in this unique event, bringing together the brightest geospatial minds in Europe,' said Stanislav Sumbera. 'The App Camp provided a tremendous learning opportunity, as well as offered a chance to use some of Intergraph's core technologies to develop mobile apps that support the ESA.'
ESA's App Camp united groups of professionals that worked together to create apps under the following categories: GMES for Everyday Life, Observe and Learn, Play the GaMES and Discovering Climate Change with GMES.
