Market Maker Surveillance Report. MS, CIM, S, ACAS, JEF, GILT, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, November 12th 2012

Nov 13, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4034 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2337 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3094 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), Chimera Investment Corp (NYSE:CIM), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), American Capital Ltd (NASDAQ:ACAS), Jefferies Group Inc (NYSE:JEF), Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd (NASDAQ:GILT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MS $0.130 0.78% 2,431,477 22.82% 3,728,855 34.99% -1,297,378 Abnormal CIM $0.220 8.63% 8,600,024 22.68% 14,347,867 37.85% -5,747,843 Abnormal S $0.080 1.44% 10,107,841 30.56% 11,076,327 33.49% -968,486 Abnormal ACAS $0.260 2.29% 1,584,573 42.16% 2,736,777 72.81% -1,152,204 Abnormal JEF $2.010 14.09% 6,359,310 29.50% 7,525,746 34.91% -1,166,436 Abnormal GILT $0.240 5.05% 361,698 21.72% 1,302,394 78.22% -940,696 Abnormal Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MS with 1,297,378 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
