SES and ESA to support satellite broadband communication and ARTES projects

Nov 23, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Satellite operator SES (Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) announced on Friday that it has signed an agreement to support innovation in satellite broadband communication in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA).

SES Broadband Services, a 100% owned satellite broadband affiliate of SES, will offer preferential rates on a range of broadband services to industrial players participating in the ARTES Applications Programme.

ESA's initiative the ARTES (Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems) promotes the use of satellites for broadcasting, multimedia and mobile communications, data relay, search and rescue and aviation services to encourage competitiveness of European industries.
