China Launches No.16 Remote Sensing Satellite

JIUQUAN, Nov 26, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Yesterday, the No.16 remote sensing satellite of China was launched by Long March 4C in the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

The satellite was developed under the leadership of the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) under China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Corporation (CASC), mainly used for scientific research, general survey of territorial resources, output estimation for crops and disaster prevention.

The carrier rocket for the satellite, Long March 4C, was made by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology under CASC, being the 172nd launch of the Long March serial carrier rocket.
