As president-elect, Long will serve as a member of the INCOSE executive
committee and a voting member of the INCOSE board of directors.
Essentially acting as the chief operating officer for INCOSE, he will
chair the planning and budgeting committee, which develops and maintains
the INCOSE long-range plan and annual operating plan. He will also
support the INCOSE president in the day-to-day operations of the
organization, until January 2014 when he is installed for his two-year
term as the INCOSE president.
Long stated, "I'm looking forward to my commitment to INCOSE and its
members, leveraging my leaership experience at both the chapter and
international levels. I want to ensure we make the next critical step in
our journey, to better empower our volunteers, connect better both
technically and culturally across geographic and application boundaries,
deliver more value to our members, and better position our profession to
address today's challenges and tomorrow's. INCOSE currently counts
almost 9,000 members in 67 chapters worldwide. There's much to be proud
of, but we can't afford to be satisfied when today's systems challenges
demand more knowledge, more skill and more leadership."
