Wireless Matrix Launches Industry's First OBD-II Device on the Verizon Wireless Network for GPS Fleet Tracking Business Applications
HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)--
Wireless Matrix Corporation (TSX: WRX), a leading provider of GPS fleet
tracking services, today announced the release of the industry's first
plug-and-play OBD-II device certified on the Verizon Wireless (News - Alert) network to
be used for GPS fleet tracking business applications.
The Reporter 30 represents Wireless Matrix's easiest-to-use device yet.
It plugs directly into a vehicle's on-board diagnostic (OBD-II) computer
port. This adds a new layer of actionable data that can be collected
from vehicle operations, including diagnostic trouble codes and data
critical to fuel efficiency reporting, in addition to traditional GPS
location data.
The direct connection to the vehicle's on-board computer port eliminates
the need for installation
services and vehicle wiring to dploy the Reporter 30. Fleet
managers can now add fleet tracking to their vehicles in minutes,
reducing downtime and providing a more rapid return on investment. The
low price point of the new device also reduces the barrier to adoption
for smaller fleets.
"The certification of the Reporter 30 with Verizon Wireless provides
both our companies an enhanced solution to offer to fleet operators,"
said Maria Izurieta, acting CEO of Wireless Matrix. "We're excited to go
to market with a channel partner like Verizon Wireless, offering the
best possible solution to fleets that want to enhance their operations."
The Reporter 30 is fully compatible with Wireless Matrix's award-winning FleetOutlook®
GPS tracking solution. The device is available for order and
immediate shipping.
