Harris Corporation Names James D. Morris Group President of Integrated Network Solutions Business
MELBOURNE, Fla. --(Business Wire)--
Harris Corporation (News - Alert) (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, has named James D. Morris group
president of the company's Integrated Network Solutions (News - Alert) business,
reporting to Harris President and CEO William M. Brown.
In this role, Morris, 47, is responsible for leading the Integrated
Network Solutions business, which includes Harris CapRock (News - Alert)
Communications, Harris Healthcare Solutions and Harris IT Services. The
business addresses the fast-growing global market for integrated
communications and information technology and services. It provides a
variety of trusted networking capabilities to support government,
energy, healthcare, and other commercial markets, including
mission-critical end-to-end IT services, managed satellite and
terrestrial communications solutions, and healthcare interoperability
solutions.
Morris brings to Harris nearly 20 years of experience successfully
developing and executing growth strategies for global commercial
enterprises. He joins Harris from Western Digital (News - Alert) Corporation, where he
held domestic and international leadership positions of increasing
responsibility since joining the copany in 2001. He most recently
served as executive vice president and general manager for four of the
company's commercial product businesses, with $7 billion in total
revenue. Previously he helped revitalize the company's notebook and
desktop operations, guiding WD to industry leadership in both segments.
Morris also served as a senior engagement manager with McKinsey and
Company in its Chicago and Johannesburg offices. Prior to his business
career he served as an intelligence officer with the U.S. Army and was
awarded a Bronze Star in Operation Desert Storm. He received a bachelor
of science degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, majoring
in International Relations, and a master in business administration
degree from Northwestern University.
