iDirect Government Technologies Teams with U.S. Coast Guard

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

iDirect Government Technologies (iGT), a subsidiary of VT iDirect (News - Alert) that deals in the needs of the Department of Defense and civilian government agencies, asserted that it has forged a partnership with Integral Systems, a provider of integrated technology solutions for satellite communications systems, in order to help the U.S. Coast Guard modernize its large cutter fleet.

The partnership will be deploying SATCOM routers and modems which will take the fleet’s communications to the Ku-band systems which offers a reliable and enhanced per-second transmission speed.

Secure and reliable transmission of critical information is imperative for the U.S. coast guard which is in charge of both homeland security and non-homeland security activities. iGT said that it is excited to see that its technologies are able to meet the coast guard’s needs and is looking forward to partnering with Integral Systems (News - Alert) in support of this important work.

iGT asserted that the e8350 Evolution series remote satellite routers are equipped with advanced features such as: Star, Mesh and SCPC topologies; high carrier data rates; advanced QoS and traffic prioritization; built-in 8-port Ethernet switch; and more. The routers are designed to meet the most rigorous mobility and security requirements and can offer fast, reliable quality of service enabled connections for Communications on the Move (COTM). These routers are the ones that will be installed aboard the U.S. coast guard cutter fleet.

Under the agreement, Integral Systems stated that it will be providing its 117MT Ku-band Maritime Antenna System. The 117 MT maritime stabilized satellite terminal is a 1.17m Ku-band VSAT system providing the ideal ocean-going platform for Single Channel per Carrier(SCPC) or on-demand networks supporting Video Teleconferencing (VTC), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and large-file data transfer.

In a press release, officials with Integral Systems commented that they along with iGT will be deploying one of the most advanced satellite networks communications systems for the U.S. Coast Guard. One of Integral’s SATCOM Solutions division offerings, the 117 Ku-band Maritime Antenna System will make sure a quick and easy transition as the Coast Guard replaces its legacy network.
