Calian Technologies Systems Engineering Division Signs Two Contracts

The Systems Engineering Division (SED) of Calian Technologies Ltd. has won two new contracts worth around $7.5 million for the provisioning of Satellite Ground Systems.

Officials with Calian Technologies said that Thrane & Thrane (News - Alert) of Denmark selected SED for the provision and installation of an Inmarsat BGAN RF Ground System for CTTIC in China.

In addition to this news, at the end of the first quarter of this fiscal year, Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) selected SED by via PWGSC competitive tender to provide and install a Remote Sensing Antenna System in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

"These contract awards were excellent wins for us," said Patrick Thera, president of SED."They further demonstrate our capabilities as a leading supplier of high quality satellite ground systems, both domestically and around the world.”

Calian employs over 2,300 people with offices and projects that span Canada, U.S. and international markets. The company's capabilities include the provisioning of business and technology services to the industry in the health, operations and maintenance, IT services and training domains as well as the design, manufacturing and maintenance of complex systems to the communications and defense sectors.

Recently, Calian Technologies announced that SED has signed another contract with VT iDirect (News - Alert), Inc. (iDirect) for the provision and installation of antennas and RF Systems for Inmarsat's forthcoming Ka-band Global Xpress network. The additional contract is valued in excess of $10 million.

iDirect was selected as the prime contractor for the ground system to support Inmarsat's (News - Alert) new state-of-the-art Global Xpress high-speed VSAT service. SED was chosen by iDirect for the provision and installation of the antennas and RF Systems.
