Skyworks Solutions (News
- Alert), a manufacturer of analog and mixed signal semiconductors, recently announced that it has developed GPS and global navigation satellite system “GNSS” solutions for Samsung (News - Alert) Electronics.
“This is an exciting new product area for Skyworks, particularly as navigation is becoming one of the fastest growing consumer features for smart phones and tablets,” said Liam K. Griffin, executive vice president and general manager of high performance analog at Skyworks.
With no need for an external component, the new solutions provide manufacturers with easy “plug and play” option. In addition the new devices incorporate embedded GPS/GNSS functionality with a low-noise amplifier that is seamlessly integrated with a filter - providing low in-band insertion loss and excellent out-of-band rejection performance.
“By leveraging core capabilities, Skyworks is delivering innovative solutions that help drive better performance and reduce complexity for our customers, while at the same time capturing additional RF content in high-growth markets, Griffin said”
In related news, Skyworks also recently reported its first fiscal quarter 2012 results. Revenue for the quarter was $393.7 million, up 17 percent when compared to $335.1 million in the first fiscal quarter of 2011 and exceeding the Company's guidance of $390.0 million.
