Comtech EF Data (News - Alert) Corporation, a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corporation and a provider of satellite bandwidth efficiency and link optimization services, announced that it has been named in a recently published industry report.

As a specialized telecommunications consultancy company, focused on the satellite and VSAT systems, COMSYS provides a wide range of reports and custom advice based on conducting primary research and working in the different fields of the satellite business. COMSYS’ VSAT Report, which is based on primary research involving site visits and interviews, offers a definitive study on the satellite industry. The company has recently come up with the 12th Edition of its VSAT Report. The report recognized Comtech EF Data as the dominant manufacturer in the Single Channel per Carrier (SCPC) area of the satellite industry. According to a press release, Comtech EF Data has been recognized especially for its Advanced VSAT Solutions product line.

The report identified mobile cellular backhaul as a major growth area in the SCPC market. The report predicted that the markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America would expand rapidly in the next two years.

The report held that military, government and maritime markets offer huge growth opportunities for SCPC, which is believed to have “bullet-proof reliability.”

“The most common applications for SCPC modems are where maximum efficiency is needed in high-priced satellite capacity environments and where dedicated clear channel capacity is required. Comtech EF Data has worked hard to refine bandwidth efficiency. The VSAT Solutions portfolio includes high-performance satellite-based communication products for a diverse range of applications, including mobile backhaul with RAN optimization, IP trunking and backhaul, maritime and offshore networks, corporate and enterprise networks, emergency and disaster recovery. The solutions incorporate advanced technologies developed by Comtech EF Data, AHA Products Group, Memotec and Stampede, according to the company website.

Earlier Comtech EF Data Corporation announced that its MetaCarrier technology won the Industry Innovators Award by the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI). The MetaCarrier technology embeds and detects Carrier ID on video and data satellite carriers, and significantly reduces the time to identify and clear satellite transponders of interference sources.
