3eTI Receives Additional $10M Award from U.S. Navy

Ultra Electronics, 3eTI, a developer of highly secure wireless network solutions that enable critical infrastructure protection, information assurance and industrial automation, has received a second $10-million award for an Enterprise Industrial Control System (EICS) from the U.S. Navy.
This second award expands upon the energy efficiency achievements made within the Navy SmartGrid Pilot program, extending the EICS solution designed to reduce energy consumption and protect critical network operations to all remaining bases within the Naval District of Washington (NDW).
3eTI's secure wireless sensor networks implement defense-in-depth (DID) security to protect critical assets associated with the Navy SmartGrid Pilot program at all levels – in particular, those assets that are connected to network operating systems to reduce the risks associated with cyber attacks when implementing control networks.
"Cyber security relating to critical infrastructure is a present and growing concern to government customers," said Benga Erinle, president of 3eTI.
"We are pleased that our products and solutions, with integral and robust DID capabilities, will continue to assist the Navy in meeting its energy security goals, including the Energy Independence and Security Act [EISA 2007] and Energy Policy Act [EPAct 2005] mandates," said Erinle.
Earlier in April, 3e Technologies (News - Alert) International announced that it had received an Approval to Operate (ATO) certification for its VPMS solution from a DoD agency. In addition to serving as a first-class accredited perimeter security solution for the DoD, VPMS will make it easier for other Federal agencies to acquire critical infrastructure protection for their sensitive assets via a solution that does not require significant time or resources to implement.
VPMS is a proven solution, deployed and operational within DoD for almost 10 years, and is the first perimeter security solution to have achieved successful DoD Red Team endorsement and an Information Assurance (IA) approval to operate across a DoD enterprise.
The VPMS solution provides real-time video surveillance with integrated analytics for threat detection and classification. Additionally, it provides a FIPS 140-2 validated and Common Criteria certified wireless mesh network that enables mobile sentry access and cost-effective sensor integration. As part of achieving the ATO, the system was tested to ensure it met the Defense Information Systems Agency (News - Alert) (DISA) guidelines for IA.
