Intelsat S.A. Deploys Intelsat 19 Solar Array

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

One of the top companies in the world when it comes to satellite services, Intelsat (News - Alert) S.A. has announced that they have managed to deploy their south solar array. The company says that the new satellite, Intelsat 19 has also successfully entered geostationary orbit. According to the company’s press release, all of the communication antennas are fully operational and the company is getting set to test a communications payload.

Intelsat 19 will make it possible for customers to use the satellite service to communicate on both C- and Ku-bands. The company says that they believe the satellite’s maneuverability life will be in the neighborhood of 15 years. There have been a few problems, as the satellite’s south solar array was damaged when it was put into action and because of this, the power that is available to the array will be less than normal. The orbit testing by the company is setto be finished by the end of July and should be finished by the 19th of that month.

The company expects for Intelsat 19 to replace their current satellite, Intelsat 8, in the North and Southwest region of the planet. Intelsat has spent more than four decades launching satellites into the solar system. The company has risen to the top of the pack when it comes to satellite services. The company is one of the oldest currently operating companies in this particular area, helping it to beat back a growing crowd of competition. The company prides itself on its teleport and fiber infrastructure. This infrastructure allows it to set the standard for transmission of video and data as well as voice services. With the birth of HD communications arrays, Intelsat has managed to make it even easier for their clients to communicate no matter where they are located around the world.
