IP Access International Inks Deal with iDirect for Evolution Platform

By Meenakshi Shankar, TMCnet Contributor

iDirect Inc., a subsidiary of VT Systems and supplier of IP-based satellite communications technology, had its Evolution platform selected by IP Access (News - Alert) International, a global satellite service provider, to upgrade its satellite-based Internet, video and voice services.

IP Access International has purchased a Series 15100 Universal Satellite hub and line cards, to significantly improve bandwidth efficiency and offer an improved end-user experience by increasing the overall capacity of critical communications.

"Disasters are unpredictable, which is why an instantly deployable solution like satellite is such an important technology to emergency responders,” said Rob Kilroy, regional vice president of iDirect Americas.

By upgrading to an Evolution network, IP Access International (News - Alert) has seen major gains in performance, efficiency and reliability to its service, ensuring that relief operations can happen without a hitch.

IP Access International offers high-bandwidth communications connectivity for a range of applications, including emergency management and disaster recovery, where dedicated and reliable bandwidth is a must. Through Evolution, IP Access International can provide emergency responders with a fixed or mobile satellite solution, deployable in minutes, and deliver high-bandwidth connectivity as needed.

"For our customers, on-demand connectivity is critical. With Evolution, we have improved the efficiency of our services, enabling us to give end users the reliable bandwidth they need when they need it most,” said Alan RICH, president of IP Access International. “Evolution also gives us more flexibility in how we sell our services, particularly our dedicated SCPC solutions, which is an important service for our emergency management and disaster recovery customers.”

IP Access International will use iDirect's (News - Alert) iDX 3.0 software to run its Evolution network. With inherent DVB-S2/ACM technology and advanced bandwidth management capabilities through its Group Quality of Service features, iDX 3.0 will enable IP Access International with a highly efficient and reliable satellite solution.

Additionally, iDX 3.0 integrates both TDMA and SCPC connectivity on a single network, which will help IP Access International to offer a more efficient and affordable service for customers in need of SCPC connectivity.

Related new reports Bentley Walker Ltd., one of the largest VSAT network operators in Europe, has purchased VT iDirect’s Universal 15000 series hub to enhance the company's satellite service offerings in Iraq and Afghanistan.
