By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

MEASAT (News - Alert) Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. has chosen Integral Systems Europe Limited (ISE), a division of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. for providing a tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) RF System.

A satellite TT&C facility for the AFRICASAT-1a satellite will be offered by incorporating the RF System at MEASAT's Cyberjaya Teleport and Broadcast Centre near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The system will be developed and tested by ISE in its ground system incorporation unit near Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K.

As per the acquisition agreement from MEASAT, the system will be shipped to Malaysia only after successful testing.

“We are extremely excited about this contract award from MEASAT,” said Andrew Smith, president of ISE UK. “Much of our satellite earth station work over the past 30 years has been installed in Southeast Asia, and we are delighted that we now add MEASAT to our growing portfolio of satellite operator customers in the region who recognize the extra value ISE offers in its system solutions."

The satellite community across the world has been utilizing the high-value satellite ground systems and offerings from Kratos’ (News - Alert) ISE team for three decades for use in satellite control, telecommunication gateway, broadcast uplink and VSAT hub applications. A wide range of consumer requirements, right from RF system upgrades to entire satellite ground segment infrastructure "green field" projects, are addressed by the complete turnkey project capability of ISE.

The products from Kratos companies, including its best-in-class EPOCH IPS Command and Control product suite, have strengthened its specialty in satellite control antennas and RF systems.

"We are pleased to be working with ISE on this project,” said John Loke, VP, Network Engineering & Operations, MEASAT. “This is part of MEASAT's plan to continue upgrading its teleport infrastructure to support the growth of our satellite fleet."

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. offers some very important products and services for United States national security. Key competences of Kratos include complicated engineering, manufacturing and system incorporation offerings for National Security platforms and programs.

Nearly 4,100 employees with an engineering and technical background work at Kratos.
