Sky-Stream Expands C Band Coverage Across Africa and the Atlantic
By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor
There's no doubt that bandwidth is at a premium, and with the increase in connectivity demands, no one can get enough of it. The marine and oil gas sectors don't seem to be exceptions as they, like Oliver Twist, are asking for 'more.'
Dubai-based Sky-Stream, which secures satellite communication solutions, has contracted for total of 70 MHz of bandwidth to be deployed on two Eutelsat (News - Alert) satellites: EUTELSAT 3C and EUTELSAT 10A to offer GSM backhaul, Internet access and on-Demand video services to its maritime, oil & gas customers, said company officials.
By selecting capacity to be progressively deployed on these two satellites, Sky-Stream is looking to expand across Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East and Africa.
EUTELSAT 3C, the news release says, is expected to extend Sky-Stream's current Middle East Ku band coverage to exploit the tremendous potential of the luxury yacht market, while the broad C-band beam of EUTELSAT 10A will help extend the 3C footprint across Africa and the Atlantic.
"Adding the extensive reach of EUTELSAT 10A to EUTELSAT 3C is a great fit to our current resources for the luxury yacht market where we see tremendous potential for growth," said Riyadh Al Adely, managing director of Sky-Stream..
Sky-Stream has gained a reputation for providing complex network solutions serving clients who are often operating in remote terrain and needing the highest quality of service, especially those in the marine, military and energy sectors.
Its VSAT solutions, which can be customized to meet precise requirements, can be easily integrated in existing networks. These solutions are highly secure, work seamlessly in the most remote regions and can be rapidly deployed.
Sky-Stream, the leader in IP video delivery solutions, announced that Eagle Broadband (News
- Alert) and GlobeCast have selected the company's Mediaplex-20 and iPlex headend systems to power their IPTVComplete turnkey video solution that helps deliver high-quality video and entertainment services to subscribers.
