Today, satellite IP communications represents a powerful solution to deliver high-speed, two-way connectivity enabling IP applications in any environment. Satellite overcomes distance and environmental challenges, taking broadband to any location as part of an integrated network. iDirect (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of satellite-based IP communications technology, enables constant connectivity for voice, video and data applications in diverse and challenging environments.
iDirect provides technology, hardware, software and services that enable VSAT service providers to optimize their networks and profitably expand their businesses. It announced that Elara Comunicaciones, a Mexico-based satellite service provider, has purchased iDirect’s SatManage network management system. With SatManage, Elara can offer more powerful network monitoring functionality for its customers, giving them higher visibility into network performance.
Through SatManage, Elara gives end users the ability to monitor their own remotes directly through an easy-to-use, Web-based graphic interface. With more than 2,000 active remotes serving a wide range of verticals, including mining, oil and gas and maritime, Elara required a network management solution that could offer all its customers quick and comprehensive insight into their network operations. SatManage helps Elara increase customer retention and acquisition by reducing issue response time and freeing the company to invest in more value-added services for customers.
"Through SatManage, our customers can easily track network performance and realize the full value of their investment with Elara,” said Jorge Luis Villareal, CEO, Elara Comunicaciones. “SatManage also greatly improves our response time, allowing us to address issues quickly and proactively. This is a huge value to our customers and will give us a key competitive advantage as we seek to expand our operations and attract new customers.”
SatManage is a sophisticated suite of Web-based software tools for the automation, monitoring and integration of hybrid networks and Network Operations Center (NOC (News - Alert))-based applications. With solutions for both small and large, more complex networks, SatManage Standard and SatManage Enterprise editions enable any network operator to streamline NOC operations, enhance customer visibility and provide a higher level of service and responsiveness, improving the overall efficiency of their network operations.
"For companies with critical communications requirements, such as oil and gas operators who need real-time communications between remote offshore operations and on-shore headquarters, maintaining high visibility in network operations is extremely important,” said Rob Kilroy, vice president Americas, iDirect. “SatManage is an essential tool for companies like Elara because it allows them to share network performance data and management tools directly with their customers in a way that is easy-to-understand and accessible from anywhere."
SatManage integrates and automates nearly every aspect of a NOC and through a rich set of monitoring features and provides an in-depth view into the network’s quality performance. It brings intuitive customer management tools and powerful portal interfaces that enhance communication and reporting, deepen network visibility and improve overall customer satisfaction and confidence in the network. SatManage provides service providers and end customers alike with a uniform view into the exact same data points and methodology predetermined in the SLA. SatManage streamlines SLA compliance by automatically generating intelligent reports on SLA performance tailored to each specific customer’s agreement thus greatly simplifying end-of-month SLA reconciliation.
