Mexico-based Elara Comunicaciones Picks iDirect SatManage Network Management System

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

VT iDirect (News - Alert) announced that Elara Comunicaciones, a Mexico-based satellite service provider will be using iDirect SatManage network management system to deliver greater network monitoring functionality to its customers. iDirect specializes in satellite-based IP communications technology.

Rob Kilroy, Vice President Americas, iDirect said in a release, “For companies with critical communications requirements, such as oil and gas operators who need real-time communications between remote offshore operations and on-shore headquarters, maintaining high visibility in network operations is extremely important.”

SatManage provides such tools which will help companies share network performance data and management tools directly with their customers in a way that is easy-to-understand and accessible from anywhere. The SatManage will also give them more visibility into network performance and enable end users to monitor their own remotes directly via a Web-based graphic interface.

As there are over 2,000 active remotes serving different verticals encompassing mining, oil and gas, and maritime, Elara was in need of an optimized network management system to let its customers gain comprehensive insight into their network operations.

Elara will now be able to increase customer retention and acquisition using SatManage which reduces issue response time and allows the company to focus on its core competencies and deliver more value-added services. Elara installed SatManage in March, 2012 and is expected to make the software operational by August 2012.

According to officials SatManage is a sophisticated suite of Web-based software tools which aids in automating, monitoring and integration of hybrid networks and NOC (News - Alert)-based applications. SatManage users will be able to gain traffic usage information, make customized reports on network performance and also monitor location and health status of their remotes via a Web-based portal.

Customers can leverage mobile networks and is very helpful for users in the maritime or aeronautical industries as they gain connectivity through multiple satellite beams.

Jorge Luis Villareal, CEO, Elara Comunicaciones said, “Through SatManage, our customers can easily track network performance and realize the full value of their investment with Elara. SatManage also greatly improves our response time, allowing us to address issues quickly and proactively. This is a huge value to our customers and will give us a key competitive advantage as we seek to expand our operations and attract new customers.”

Recently VT iDirect released SatManage 5.2, an upgrade to the company’s network management software. SatManage 5.2 offers many valuable features to iDirect partners including an automated SLA Manager for easier SLA reporting and management and Web Service APIs for easier integration with existing business systems.
