By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
Globecomm, a major provider of communications solutions and services across the globe, will provide commercial-off-the-shelf satellite network and communications equipment and other offerings to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, based in Charleston, SC.
The contract between the two organizations allows an indefinite number of deliveries with indefinite number of quantities at a fixed rate. While the initial contract is for one year with a maximum worth of $17 million, the contract can be optionally extended to a maximum of four years.
In the event of the contract being extended four years, the total value of the numerous award contracts is nearly $85 million, to be shared among the several contract winners. Similar contracts like the one awarded to Globecomm have been awarded to two other organizations.
Globecomm and the two organizations will vie for individual delivery orders as per the stipulations and state of affairs of the awarded contract.
“This contract further deepens our support to a critical U.S. Government organization charged with rapidly delivering solutions that enable information dominance for our country’s Naval, Joint, National and Coalition Warfighters,” said David Hershberg (News - Alert), CEO and Chairman of Globecomm. “This prime contract leverages Globecomm's program management and satellite communications engineering know-how in developing, deploying and supporting state-of-the-art solutions in a manner that is mutually aligned with SPAWAR’s expectations regarding responsiveness, excellence, credibility and accountability.”
Globecomm offers satellite-based managed network offerings to organizations across the globe. The organization provides a wide-ranging portfolio of system incorporation, system products and network offerings by advantageously utilizing its proficiency in the promising communication technologies.
The organization has an exclusive competitive benefit due to its incorporated approach of merging in-house design and engineering proficiency with a world-class global network. The organization also offers support year round, day or night, through its network operating centers.
Globecomm has its headquarters in Hauppauge, New York, along with offices in Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, the Netherlands, South Africa, Hong Kong, Germany, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan.
