Prestigious University in the Western United States Chooses Wireless Matrix for GPS Services

The commercial telematics market is enjoying good overall growth. The blend of the telecommunications and informatics systems within vehicles is gaining more popularity. Wireless Matrix Corporation, a provider of Fleet Management solutions and wireless data communications services, is gaining with the momentum as it has been selected by a prestigious university in the western United States to provide fleet tracking for up to 1,100 vehicles.
The contract marks Wireless Matrix’s premiere entry into the Education Transportation vertical. The initial order under the contact has already been received by the company.
“This win is the result of a lengthy and highly detailed process that put FleetOutlook toe-to-toe with solutions from some of the largest GPS tracking companies in the industry,” Maria Izurieta, acting chief executive officer of Wireless Matrix, said in a statement.
Under the initial three-year agreement, the university will deploy Wireless Matrix’s FleetOutlook GPS tracking solution for vehicle location and status reporting. It will be deployed on a broad range of vehicle types, including both Clean Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles.
The company statement also indicated that the selection of its FleetOutlook was based on the result of a highly competitive solicitation, proposal and pilot process by the university’s transportation department. The process involved initial bids from approximately 20 companies in the GPS fleet tracking industry. Wireless Matrix was selected by the university following a successful 60-day pilot of FleetOutlook on its vehicles earlier this year.
FleetOutlook helps distribution, cable, utilities, rail, oil and gas, government, and a host of other field service companies increase their mobile workforce’s productivity, decrease operational costs, enhance customer service, and reduce safety-related incidents. FleetOutlook is an open, scalable platform designed for seamless integration with other applications, including workforce management and other back-office applications.
“We’re excited by the university’s selection of FleetOutlook, and we look forward to working with them to identify and realize greater efficiencies from their vehicle fleet,” Izurieta added.
