Harris Corporation Wins $12 Million in Orders from Nations in Africa

International communications and information technology company, Harris Corporation (News - Alert) has recently won new orders to supply Falcon tactical radio systems and field support to two countries in Africa.

This new contract is said to be worth about $12 million and will offer the Falcon III RF-7800V VHF and Falcon II RF-5800H HF tactical radio systems, which will used to provide line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight tactical voice and data communications to armed forces personnel.

“The Falcon radios will provide security forces in these countries with combat proven, high-performance tactical voice and data communications,’’ said Brendan O’Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications. “These capabilities are vital on a range of missions. This order further solidifies the Falcon family as the international standard for tactical communications.’’

The RF-7800V family offers continuous coverage in the 30 MHz to 108 MHz frequency range and supports data rates up to 192 Kbps, along with time-critical BMS reports, while delivering simultaneous networked voice and data communications to multiple users.

The Falcon II RF-5800H-MP offers continuous coverage in the 1.6 to 60 MHz frequency band and helps the warfighter stay connected even in the harshest conditions. It includes Third Generation-Automatic Link Establishment, integrated data link protocols and embedded GPS receivers.

Along with tactical radio systems, Harris is offering training, installation and field support services. The orders include base stations, vehicular systems and manpack and handheld radios.
