By Madhubanti Rudra, TMCnet Contributor
With natural disasters becoming far too frequent, portable satellite communication solutions, which support two-way communication anywhere, anytime, are gaining popularity. Making an important addition to the list of portable satellite solutions in the market, Australia’s satellite communication equipment provider, Beam Communications recently unveiled RapidSat700.
Operating with the Inmarsat (News - Alert) BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) network, this new portable satellite communications system can be ideal for emergency situations, first responder and disaster recovery works, its maker explained in a news statement.
The RapidSat700 solution is also ideal for a rapid setup, providing easy access to voice and higher speed satellite data / Internet access in remote areas.
RapidSat700 supports high-speed data transfer at the rate of up to 492kbps. In addition, it provides Wi-Fi connection up to 45 meters outdoors, 10/100Mbps LAN ports, RJ11 voice/fax & handset, voice/data connectivity, and integrated power management with status indicators and fan-forced cooling.
Powered by its inbuilt Lithium Battery backup of 538WHr, RapidSat700 is capable of delivering a nonstop 24 hours of transmits time.
With its in-built EXPLORER 700 BGAN terminal, RapidSat700 supports easy deployment and also provides access to the highest bandwidth available via BGAN, thereby facilitating a platform for a wide range of applications with need of high performance.
RapidSat 700 is the latest addition to the series of eight products that Beam has manufactured for Inmarsat over the past two years. It marks the first of a specialized range of disaster recovery products for providing access to rapidly deployable higher speed data access.
“The solution provides the only available rapidly deployable, portable high speed data communications anywhere,” Beam Communications MD Michael Capocchi said regarding newly launched RaidSat 700.
