TeleCommunication Systems' Xypoint Location Platform to Deliver Location-Based Services for nTelos wireless' Customers

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

TeleCommunication Systems (News - Alert) (TCS) stated that the Xypoint Location Platform (XLP) will supply the necessary mobile Location-Based Services (LBS) infrastructure to nTelos wireless.

TCS’ Xypoint Location Platform (XLP) turnkey product suite supported by GPS technology provides accurate location data to its users along with rich fallback positioning techniques to cope with non-availability of satellite visibility. XLP is stated to be a standards-based solution suite that enables wireless carriers to launch a variety of location-based services and it is available with location-based capabilities that are both personal and relevant to a user’s location.

nTelos wireless was in need of a rapid flexible replacement, while also offering subscribers with uninterrupted location services. XLP’s all-inclusive LBS features allows nTelos wireless deliver precise location information for applications for its customers and also avoids operational and logistical burdens.

Lynne Seitz, vice president of location products at TCS said, “It was imperative that nTelos achieve its long-standing commitment to delivering the best customer value and the best customer experience while going through this LBS transition. As other location service providers exit the market, often with little warning, TCS' ability to step in and quickly transition location services has become as valuable to operators as the quality of our technology solutions. We look forward to delivering location services to meet the needs of nTelos for many years to come.”

Conrad Hunter, chief operating officer at nTelos Wireless added, “In order to provide our customers with the applications and location-based services they desire, we selected TCS for its easy-to-implement, hosted service to meet our deadline. We are very pleased that TCS has been able to provide our subscribers with access to their favorite LBS applications without interruption.”

Some of the notable benefits nTelos wireless will get to enjoy from XLP are: end-to-end one- stop shop solution; high reliability and availability; inclusive of a partner program with existing applications for app developers; support capability for GSM, CDMA, UMTS, and 4G; and more.
