Belgium Satellite Services recently announced that it will be expanding its operations across the Middle East and Africa with the signing of a new long-term contract with Eutelsat (News - Alert) Communications. BSS is a specialist provider of high-quality satellite networking solutions.

In a statement, Nitin Dhawan CEO of Belgium Satellite Services said that, "We are happy to take our strong 10-year relationship with Eutelsat to the next level. This is important for BSS as the acquisition of INTERSAT has significantly expanded the scope of our business. Thanks to the extensive C-band footprint on EUTELSAT 10A satellite we can build a strong platform for service provision across the African continent and the Middle East. We are now positioned to strengthen our response to businesses and multinationals in demanding enterprise sectors, including the banking sector, that need secure and scalable networks. The new capacity enables us to consolidate our long-term positioning in this part of the world, boosting our international expansion."

BSS is currently focussed on expanding its operations across the African continent and the Middle East region. The company has also recently acquired INTERSAT, a provider of satellite-based data solutions. To support its VSAT services expansion strategies and to take advantage of new business opportunities, the company will leverage the new capacity on EUTELSAT 10A.

Jean-François Leprince-Ringuet, CCO at Eutelsat, said that, "This new contract with BSSfurther anchors EUTELSAT 10Ain dynamic regions across Africa and the Middle East. We are delighted that its performance and coverage will enable BSS to accelerate its growth and that our longstanding partner has renewed its confidence in us with this new lease."

BSS’ VSAT services currently serve a client base of more than 150 businesses ,which includes NGOs and government administrations that have relied on INTERSAT’s satellite-based data solutions. BSS will manage the networks via its teleport in Lessive (Belgium) and its advanced ground station which has been designed with the latest iDirect (News - Alert) technology.
