Globecomm Systems (News - Alert) Inc., a leading global communications solutions provider, recently received a $8.8-million contract from the NCI Agency (The NATO Communications and Information Agency) to upgrade its previously installed FTS (News - Alert) or GPS based - Force Tracking System and to replace equipment that had become obsolete.
The new FTS will not only have additional features, but will also handle added capacity.
Globecomm’s combined contract value with NATO following this contract stands at around $74.6 million.
The F GPS based - Force Tracking System aids NATO in tracking data and traffic. In addition, it enables NATO to identify where its staff is located at any time and to identify any other multinational forces in routine or operational situations.
This is very important in identifying friendly forces so as to prevent any fratricide or “blue-on-blue” incidents.
Paul Knudsen, vice president of Globecomm’s Eastern Atlantic Team, said Globecomm is a long-standing customer of NATO, and that this upgrade is required to allow the system to handle additional communications traffic, as well as replace equipment that has become obsolete.
Globecomm subsidiaries also received a $6.8-million service contract from a U.S. government agency sometime during November 2012.
The U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office – Command, Control and Communications Tactical (PEO-C3T) – also awarded two Global Tactical Advanced Communications (News - Alert) Systems (GTACS) projects to Globecomm Systems Inc., sometime during early November 2012.
The company plans to release its 2013 second quarter financial results for the fiscal 2013 on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
