Air Greenland Selects New SkyRouter Fleet Management Portal from Blue Sky Network

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Air Greenland, a helicopter and fixed wing operator in the Arctic, has selected New SkyRouter, a fleet management portal from Blue Sky Network.

Blue Sky Network is a provider of satellite tracking and communication solutions that serve aviation, land and marine sectors. Its New SkyRouter cloud-based solution will ensure constant connectivity with mobile assets that may be dispersed in remote locations.

Hans Peter Hansen, charter manager at Air Greenland said, “Blue Sky Network’s New SkyRouter combined with their variety of product offerings provides us something others simply cannot – constant fleet connectivity. Given our flight routes to some of the most distant northern areas, we need the most reliable solution available; Blue Sky Network and Iridium (News - Alert) make that possible.”

Air Greenland charter services serve Arctic aviation, mineral exploration and offshore search-and-rescue missions.

Working in tandem with Blue Sky Network’s Iridium Satellite (News - Alert)-based products, New SkyRouter will assist Air Greenland aircrafts and helicopters that fly in the northern-most latitudes where communication is almost impossible.

Now with the New SkyRouter, Air Greenland fleets will get a reliable communication and fleet management solution that provides advanced tracking technologies and pole-to-pole connectivity with remote assets.

Blue Sky Network’s D1000 aviation series hardware is incorporated with the New SkyRouter, which provides reports on GPS position, take-off/landing, altitude, and on/off gate. This helps fleet managers to control their aircraft especially during aviation emergencies. The crew can send an alert to New SkyRouter to notify fleet managers immediately.

This capability and a satellite voice connection obtained from Blue Sky’s ACH1000 serves to enhance overall safety and productivity in day-to-day fleet operations.

Blue Sky Network CEO and founder, Jon Gilbert, remarked, “We are excited to have Air Greenland adopt our next-generation fleet management web portal solution and industry leading tracking products. This partnership validates our position as an industry leader in tracking and communication solutions worldwide.”

Recently, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Blue Sky Network’s voice system on C-212-200 Airbus Military aircraft. EASA has thus approved the deployment of Blue Sky Network’s value-added aviation satellite phone system, the Kit 2.
