Radisys' T-Series ATCA Platform Provides Benefits to ViaSat

Radisys Corporation (RSYS), a source of wireless infrastructure solutions, recently announced that its T-Series ATCA platform is providing great benefits to ViaSat (News - Alert) Inc., a company that offers networking products and services.

Used for ViaSat’s next-generation satellite-based broadband infrastructure, the T-Series ATCA platform is helping the company to meet its time-to-market, performance and capacity targets.

The T-Series ATCA platform addresses operators’ struggle to increase service profitability by delivering a 50-percent cost-per-bit reduction over 10G systems. T-Series platforms also provide TEMs with a new R&D model – Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) – which allows them to focus solely on building their application.

The T-Series platform is a telecom-grade system, built to NEBS specifications and pre-integrated with the largest selection of ATCA blades, built on cutting-edge processors and software to provide a robust, high-performance solution that TEMs can deploy immediately.

 “We have seen good traction and success with our satellite-based broadband service, and our satellite technology delivers the infrastructure to enable cable/fiber-like Internet access to all customers within a satellite footprint without any compromises,” said Bill Hallstrom, vice president Broadband Engineering, ViaSat. “Radisys is our trusted partner for these network deployments and its platforms already support live traffic on our Exede networks. Using Radisys’ pre-integrated T-Series ATCA platform in our next generation network, we can meet our aggressive time-to-market goals with increased capabilities.”

T-Series platforms address operators’ need for efficient network elements that decrease delivery costs and improve performance. To support these operator demands, telecom equipment manufacturers must deliver their application on a COTS platform that inherently possesses these characteristics and provides the ability to increase their velocity to market.
