Telit Extends Portfolio of Multi-Constellation Satellite Receivers

Telit Wireless (News - Alert) Solutions has unveiled the Jupiter SE868-V2 compact multi-constellation receiver module. The module has been designed specifically for positioning and navigation applications in automotive, commercial, industrial and consumer sectors like wearable and handheld devices.

 America’s Global Positioning System (GPS), along with Russia’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and Japan’s Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) are compatible with the tiny 11x11mm QFN packaged receiver module, developed using CSR (News - Alert) SiRFstarVTM 5e. Evaluation modules of the enhanced solution will be shipped by the organization in the latter part of the year after standards for these constellations are completely developed. Version 2 of the solution will be able to receive satellite signals from European Galileo, and Chinese BeiDou Compass (News - Alert) or BDS sat-navigation systems.

Apart from decreasing the time-to-market, the SE868-V2 receiver module has transformed the chipset-versus-module decision into a simplified one, especially in the latest designs. The module offers a pin-attuned path for devices, based on the Jupiter JF2 GPS module, to move over to the latest and most sturdy multi-constellation assistance presently available in the market.

In a statement, Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer of Telit Wireless Solutions, said, "The Jupiter SE868-V2 is one the industry's first applications of CSR's latest generation and state-of-the-art, multi-GNSS platform, the CSR SiRFstarVTM 5e…Now the large customer base for the popular Jupiter JF2 GPS-only module can quickly introduce a new generation of their own products providing them the opportunity to upsell their own customer base."

Telit’s Jupiter SE868-V2 shines in all positioning tasks. The module is best-suited for applications needing extremely dependable navigation. The receiver-module can monitor both GPS and GLONASS constellations concurrently, staying in navigation for a greater percentage of time with no disruptions in the flow of position fixes. In the event of switching among varied satellite systems, the receiver-module eliminates the need for external administration. The receiver features maximum of -165dBm in monitoring and -148dBm in acquirement. The bill-of-material expenses associated with the consumer device are also decreased.
