GPS Intelligence Advises Companies about Security Measures to Bring Down Property Losses in the Coming Year

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

GPS Intelligence, provider of GPS Tracking Systems for bringing down property loss and experts in corporate security, has advised that for the coming year, companies put into place new and improved security measures to bring down instances of property losses. The retail sales market in the U.S. currently sits at an approximate $3.8 billion.

However, it has been estimated that the annual retail loss for the industry is expected to fall into billions as instances of crimes perpetrated by organized crime rings as well as a professional shoplifters and cargo theft are on the rise. These can eat into substantial portions of the profits of the industry for each year.

GPS tracking is one ideal measure which can be deployed by more companies to help prevent loss from theft. With advanced capabilities such as cell tower triangulation and portable and compact designs of the latest models of GPS tracking devices, not only is deployment easy but the devices up the ante on security measures. Companies can use these devices in their buildings, parking lots as well as in remote and mountainous locations.

In a release, Kirk Waltz, Commercial Sales Manager for GPS Intelligence, said that, “GPS tracking devices are successfully used in all stages of the retail market cycle, which includes securing property from distributors, all the way to the retailer sales floor.”

As soon as a product reaches the retailer, it is open for theft by professional shoplifters. If they are aware that the goods and shipments have been fitted with GPS tracking devices, it can be a deterrent. The advanced models of GPS tracking devices can in fact easily track goods across towns or across cross-borders which make them harder to steal and hide.

A number of GPS Intelligence tracking capabilities are extremely helpful in tracking down and retrieval of lost or stolen shipments and products as well as live assets in intervals of sub-minutes. Loss prevention specialists also use geo-fence alerts which send SMS or email notifications anytime assets move beyond their designated perimeters.

In other news, GPS Intelligence recently released CovertTrack Mobile for Blackberry handheld devices. The application represents a new mobile version of the renowned CovertTrack Online Tracking Center, a web-based application that enables users to track vehicles and assets from any internet accessible computer or PDA-style cell phone.
