By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Israel-based provider of multichannel television via satellite, YES, has chosen Cisco (News - Alert) as its innovation partner to enhance its TV services and also to help architect new next-generation video experiences using the Cisco’s Cisco Videoscape.

Yes claims that it is Israel's only provider of multi-channel television broadcasts via satellite, and was the first company to offer digital broadcasts and interactive television services. Since its inception, the company has recruited over 600000 subscribers constituting 39 percent of Israel's multi-channel television market share.

Now with the Cisco partnership, the company plans to take a step forward towards expanding its services and strengthening its video infrastructure to include cloud technology, network hardware and software that will enable new video experiences for its wide spread customers.

According to Itzhak Elyakim, vice president of engineering and CTO, YES, in this highly-competitive marketplace, the key to staying ahead is continuing to stay relevant through innovation and making wise technology decisions and their partnership with Cisco is testament to their commitment to lead the video market with next-generation TV experiences for consumers.

The deployment of Cisco’s Videos cape will enable YES to bring together digital TV and online video content with social media and communications applications.

Jordi Botifoll, senior vice president, Cisco EMEAR, South Theatre said that, “This is a unique collaboration of two innovative companies: Yes and Cisco. We look forward to working with YES to both advance its video network with new IP technology today, and help it utilize its existing video infrastructure investments for years to come in Israel.”

According to Cisco, their Videoscape reinvents the TV experience and makes it something entirely new with less complexity, with fewer devices needed for immersive experiences.

Edwin Paalvast, vice president, Service Provider Group, Cisco EMEA said that YES shares Cisco's Videoscape vision for the future of television, to offer consumers an immersive video entertainment experience and Yes has demonstrated its ability to become a leader in this field and a transformer for its consumers.
