BSS and Intersat Bring Affordable and Reliable Connectivity to Middle East, Africa

In an effort to expand its presence in the Middle East and African markets, Belgium Satellite Services (BSS), a provider of Telecom and Broadcast facilities announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Intersat Africa Limited, a provider of satellite based data solutions in Africa. The strategic alliance between the two companies is expected to create a dynamic new force for the African and Middle Eastern market.

The two companies are going to collaborate in the areas of sales, marketing and product development through the formation of an organization. The new organization will be committed to expanding both the companies’ customer base and offering an enhanced range of reliable satellite services, according to a press release.

For Intersat, the alliance translates into deepening of its international footprint with a significant presence in Africa and the Middle East as well as expansion in the range of its data connectivity solutions. Under the partnership, Intersat will leverage the experience and expertise of BSS, to provide end-to-end GSM Backhaul and DTH Broadcasting Solutions in the region. Intersat customers in turn will gain improved access to the dynamic satellite services markets in Africa and the Middle East.

The two partners will collaborate to bring new and more optimized services to all types of customers from SME’s to large corporations, telecom operators and ISPs in Africa and the Middle East through an enhanced infrastructure, technical development and marketing coverage.

Intersat currently offers Internet via Satellite connectivity to major organizations in public and private sectors throughout the African continent and the Middle East. The company is known for its affordable and reliable connectivity and to achieve this reputation, the company has reportedly made investments in state-of-the-art technology and cutting edge solutions

According to BSS website, Belgium Satellite Services S.A (BSS) was formed with the acquisition of Belgacom (News - Alert) Satellite services division by ORG Informatics, a Silicon Valley funded Telecom and IT Transnational Entity headquartered in India.  Since 2007, BSS provides tailor-made, high-quality satellite networking solutions including hosting and hub services, IP over satellite, and TV and broadcasting solutions from its large technical and operational infrastructure in Europe.
