Comtech Telecommunications (News
- Alert) announced that its subsidiary, Comtech EF Data (News - Alert) Corp., has been selected to supply SATCOM products valued at $1.0 million for a European systems integrator.
Comtech EF Data Corp. supplies satellite earth station communications products, including satellite modems, bandwidth and capacity management, TCP/IP performance enhancement proxies, encapsulators, receivers, frequency converters, amplifiers, transceivers and terminals.
In a release Fred Kornberg (News
- Alert), president and chief executive officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. said, “The Comtech technologies were selected based on our ability to facilitate efficient bandwidth utilization. The customer will leverage our dynamic bandwidth switching, enhanced Quality of Service, optimum forward error correction and secure encryption over their satellite links.”
A government agency in the Middle East will be using these infrastructure products to power its IP-based, secure satellite communications network. Comtech will be providing the SLM-5650A Satellite Modems and the Vipersat Management System (VMS) to the customer.
Also the SLM-5650A Satellite Modem is compliant with MIL-STD-188-165A, modem types I, II, IV, V and VI and are most suitable for applications on government and commercial satellites. The TRANSEC module has been picked to provide bulk AES-256 encryption/decryption certified to FIPS-140-2 Level 2.
The Network Processor (News - Alert) module with advanced Internet Protocol features such as routing, switching, Quality of Service and Vipersat dynamic bandwidth control was also selected, said officials.
Fully automated network and capacity management is ensured by the SLM-5650A which integrates with the Vipersat Management System. The VMS serves as an engine that assures users of dynamic Single Carrier per Channel (dSCPC) bandwidth management of the space segment.
In case a remote in the network has to transport over the satellite link, dSCPC technology automatically establishes the SCPC carrier for that transmission. dSCPC also helps in achieving true bandwidth-on-demand, providing low-latency, low-jitter dedicated SCPC connections thereby optimizing space segment requirement.
Comtech Telecommunications specializes in delivering innovative products, systems and services for advanced communications solutions. Communication capabilities are enhanced in cases where terrestrial communications infrastructure are not available or expensive.
Recently Comtech Telecommunications’ subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation was awarded multiple orders of $16.6 million to support the U.S. Army’s Movement Tracking System and Blue-Force Tracking-1 programs.
