Spacenet Expands Reach with New Connexstar International Satellite Services

By Arun Satapathy, TMCnet Contributor

Spacenet, a provider of satellite networking services, reportedly announced the coverage expansion for its commercial grade Connexstar service to include select countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

To meet the growing demands from U.S.-based organizations with operations abroad, the new Connexstar International Satellite Services will connect remote overseas locations via satellite directly to a secure teleport facility in the United States. The new Spacenet services provide carrier class communications for critical voice, video, or data applications, and are available in both pre-packaged and custom tailored solutions.

Enterprise and government organizations will benefit from the Connexstar International by means of high quality communications at their remote operations as is the case in the domestic locations. Benefits include toll quality telephone services, high-speed broadband Internet access, and two-way video capabilities- all through satellite. The standard service packages from Connexstar International are available in speeds ranging from 256 Kbps to 2 Mbps, with the option for up to 6 telephone lines, and include remote terminal equipment, in-country installation and field maintenance.

With the new international service, Spacenet’s satellite hub infrastructure is expanded and enables clients to communicate directly between remote overseas operations and the U.S. over a single satellite connection. Based on SkyEdge VSAT platform as well as the innovative Cisco (News - Alert) VSAT Network Module the new Connexstar International services enable seamless integration into popular models of Cisco routers.

Spacenet Senior Vice President, David Myers, said, “Growing security concerns and a weakening US dollar have led many organizations to look for more reliable and cost effective ways of communicating with remote operations abroad. Many international satellite services rely on outsourced ‘virtual networks’ provided through foreign teleport operators. Spacenet is different.

“By deploying our international services over a network operated in the US and under our control, Spacenet can provide greater network security and a higher overall quality of service than other alternatives. As a result enterprise and government organizations alike can improve their operational effectiveness overseas with dependable communications from one of the most trusted providers in the satellite industry,” Myers added.
