By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor
Netvue IPTV (News - Alert) systems reportedly says that it’s installed Exterity TVgateway and Pro-Encoder for live-streaming television channels from Freeview and Satellite, and that it’s going to distribute them across Sony BMG’s (News - Alert) local area network.
Netvue has installed an IPTV system at the new U.K. headquarters of Sony BMG Music Entertainment in the Kensington section of London, England. According to the company, the channels are available for viewing on LCD screens all around the building, as well as on computer desktops using Exterity’s avediaCenter.
Netvue deals in new technology IPTV and Digital Signage solutions. Netvue IPTV systems distribute live broadcast TV, streamed video channels and Digital Signage all around a building on the computer network. An IPTV system takes digital terrestrial television and satellite channels received at broadcast quality, and converts them to live IPTV channel streams on the local area network or wide area network.
Mike Blacklee, facilities director for Sony BMG, said that he chose an IPTV system “because it made sense to use the IT network infrastructure as a delivery mechanism for digital quality pictures in our flagship headquarters building.”
Netvue claims that Sony BMG’s selection of its IPTV service is an advantage for Sony BMG, as the company is saved from the cost of laying hundreds of meters of coaxial cables.
Colin Farquhar, chief executive officer of Exterity, said, “As the market leading building IPTV company, Exterity is improving the way live television and video are distributed around buildings. Companies like Sony BMG are realising that IPTV represents significant technological and financial benefits, compared with problematic coaxial systems.”
Netvue also offers specialist IPTV products such as Electrosonic VN-Matrix IP Video Streaming Encoder / Decoder, Enlight TV-PC – a PC combined with a LCD TV and Ruckus Mediaflex Adapter.
Officials from Netvue say their company can supply all the equipment and materials for client’s IPTV system and that they’ll carry carry out all the systems installation work – from aerial and satellite dishes on the roof, to the software on PC’s and Macs.
