Axonn Intros SMARTONE Asset Management Device
By Arun Satapathy, TMCnet Contributor
Axonn is now offering its new SMARTONE tracking device, designed for management of fixed and movable assets.
Due to its small size (6.5"x3.25"x1"), SMARTONE can be installed without requiring harnesses, antennas, or external power. Powered by two or four AA lithium batteries for three or more years of life, SMARTONE minimizes maintenance. It utilizes a vibration sensor, comparative GPS positions, change of location technology and sensor input to gather and transmit asset status information.
According to Dave Biggs, chief executive officer at Axonn, the company created this product to fill market demand for a satellite asset management device priced at less than $200 capable of running on “off-the-shelf” batteries and running for years without requiring service.
“Axonn has met that need with the SMARTONE at a price point that makes it economically feasible for customers to invest in a device to manage their high value assets as well as their previously overlooked lower value assets,” Biggs said in a statement.
SMARTONE devices can be integrated with an existing back-end system to manage multiple assets across multiple locations. With customization to the back-end system, SMARTONE also can provide enhanced alerts and location information.
For example, SMARTONE devices can be configured to send emergency alerts by e-mail or as text messages to cell phones. Each SMARTONE device transmits real-time GPS location information and other data over the Globalstar (News - Alert) constellation of low earth-orbiting (LEO) satellites. Simplex data is transmitted only one-way — from the asset — thus keeping the costs low and increasing the battery life.
Axonn LLC is a provider of transmission technology for asset monitoring hardware utilizing the Globalstar Simplex Data Network. Right now, the company’s products are used on a variety of mobile assets such as cargo containers, trailers and railcars, construction and service vehicles, and fixed assets like field equipment, generators, pipelines, and fuel storage tanks.
Axonn LLC is headquartered in Covington, Louisiana.
