Latin American Telecommunications Service Provider Awards US$14 Million Contract to Advantech

Advantech Advanced Microwave Technologies Inc., a Quebec-based corporation has reportedly won a $14M dollar contract from a leading Latin American telecommunications service provider, to provide VSAT satellite communications network.
Under the contract, Advantech (News - Alert) will provide a state-of-the-art telecommunication system that includes a fully integrated redundant satellite gateway communications equipment to be provided and installed for the existing satellite network at the customer's teleport. The award also includes 3,200 remote stations known as Very Small Aperture Terminals also known as VSAT.
The telecommunication satellite system is designed for the transmission of Internet, voice, video, data, videoconferencing and television services.
David Gelerman, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Advantech Wireless Broadband said they were delighted to have been awarded the latest important contract from this prominent Latin American telecommunications company.
In recent years, Advantech Wireless Broadband had created a prominent position in the Latin America market for delivering a fully redundant satellite gateway to the military sector in Colombia, including the radio frequency subsystem along with hundreds of remote VSAT stations and an all country-wide deployment services for a contract value of US$2.1M.
Gelerman said the latest contract award provides further evidence that Advantech Wireless Broadband delivers world-class broadband satellite communications and will also help the company to secure high caliber positions and opportunity for further employment in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada for the coming five years.
Advantech is headquartered in Montreal. The company designs, manufactures and deploys networking solutions for broadband connectivity, broadcast solutions and backhaul requirements using satellite and terrestrial communications.
The company’s portfolio includes: VSAT / DVB-RCS Hub & Terminals, SSPA, Block-up Converters, Frequency Converters, Satellite Modems, Antenna Controllers, PDH, Ethernet and Sonet radios.
