“The market for navigation applications on smartphones is growing rapidly because users find it more convenient and cost-effective to have a single converged device for both communications and navigation,” Souheil Gallouzi, senior vice president and general manager of Mobile Products Development, Intrinsyc, said.
“People who own Symbian Qt smartphones can now get Destinator 9 and enjoy the navigation industry’s best user experience totally integrated with such powerful new technologies as touch,” Gallouzi added.
Destinator Version 9 leverages Qt’s frameworks for graphics, rich GUI widget set and tools for internationalization. The solution will provide drivers and pedestrians with an optimized navigation experience that is expected to help them reach their destinations safely and fast, said company sources.
Destinator also offers voice-guided, turn-by-turn directions with full visual dashboard information. Users will be able to set destinations by browsing location on a map or entering an address, street/city, intersection, or postcode, keyword search of POI, history, favorites, and SMS.
The map viewing modes include 2D/3D and day and night modes. Users can search for required information by using search options like POI categories, browsing for POIs near a specific address and also navigate to selected search results.
