The equipment will be used by the United States government to support military communications.

According to the company officials, the order specified a variety of Comtech EF Data's (News - Alert) frequency converters, including the UT-4514 Ku-Band Up Converter, the DT-4513 Ku-Band Down Converter and the LBC-4000 L-Band Up/Down Converter System.

Company officials said that Comtech EF Data's lineup of indoor converters provides frequency conversion between the traditional IF frequencies of 70/140 MHz and L-Band, as well as translation from these IF frequencies and C-, X-, Ku- and Hotbird RF Bands. Based on rack mountable chassis, the products feature low phase noise, high gain, gain compensation, redundancy and the patented daisy chain switching.

“With more than 20 years experience in RF products, Comtech EF Data has a proven track record of supporting mission critical communications with reliable, high-performance solutions,” Fred Kornberg (News - Alert), president and CEO of Comtech Telecommunications Corp, said.

In October, Comtech Telecommunications announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $2.9 million order for satellite communications equipment to support a customer's network expansion in Asia.

Comtech EF Data's high-end and mid-range satellite modems will be provided, including the CDM-710, the CDM-625, the CDM-600 and the DMD-20 models.

These modems feature advanced forward error correction and higher order modulation. Based on the modems' flexibility and features, the customer will be able to increase its satellite link efficiency and reduce the total cost of ownership associated with its satellite communications.

Additionally, the order includes C-band and Ku-band frequency down converters, specifically the DT-4503 and DT-4513 models that offer high-performance frequency conversion, as well as Comtech's patented daisy chain switching techniques.
